Interesting...but..I have to agree with Leolia, us researchers need hard core evidence. You cannot believe everything you read on the Internet, as you know. If someone could show us proof of Russells ownership such as a chain of Title to the property, that would be different.

Hey.....if there are any Realtors in Allegany, PA:

You could call the local Title company and ask for a Property Profile on the cemetary address. If Russell ever owned it or was on Title, it would be on the documents from the Title company. Because it is of public record anyone has legal right to that information. And the information is free to the public. Many Title companys have the ability to email you the scanned pages of documents. Shouldn't take more then a day or so to recieve it from them. We would love to see what you come up with..

A stone seal bearing the name of one of the families who acted as servants in the First Temple and then returned to Jerusalem after being exiled to Babylonia has been uncovered in an archeological excavation in Jerusalem's City of David, a prominent Israeli archeologist said Wednesday.

The 2,500-year-old black stone seal, which has the name "Temech" engraved on it, was found earlier this week amid stratified debris in the excavation under way just outside the Old City walls near the Dung Gate, said archeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar, who is leading the dig.

According to the Book of Nehemiah, the Temech family were servants of the First Temple and were sent into exile to Babylon following its destruction by the Babylonians in 586 BCE.

The family was among those who later returned to Jerusalem, the Bible recounts.

The seal, which was bought in Babylon and dates to 538-445 BCE, portrays a common and popular cultic scene, Mazar said.

The 2.1 x 1.8-cm. elliptical seal is engraved with two bearded priests standing on either side of an incense altar with their hands raised forward in a position of worship.

A crescent moon, the symbol of the chief Babylonian god Sin, appears on the top of the altar.

Under this scene are three Hebrew letters spelling Temech, Mazar said.

The Bible refers to the Temech family: "These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city." [Nehemiah 7:6]... "The Nethinim [7:46]"... The children of Temech." [7:55].

The fact that this cultic scene relates to the Babylonian chief god seemed not to have disturbed the Jews who used it on their own seal, she added.

The seal of one of the members of the Temech family was discovered just dozens of meters away from the Opel area, where the servants of the Temple, or "Nethinim," lived in the time of Nehemiah, Mazar said.

"The seal of the Temech family gives us a direct connection between archeology and the biblical sources and serves as actual evidence of a family mentioned in the Bible," she said. "One cannot help being astonished by the credibility of the biblical source as seen by the archaeological find."

The find will be announced by Mazar at the 8th annual Herzliya Conference on Sunday.

The archeologist, who rose to international prominence for her recent excavation that may have uncovered King David's palace, most recently uncovered the remnants of a wall from Nehemiah.

The dig is being sponsored by the Shalem Center, a Jerusalem research institute where Mazar serves as a senior fellow, and the City of David Foundation, which promotes Jewish settlement throughout east Jerusalem.

Do Most Witnesses know about UN SCANDAL?

it seems to me that most witnesses still don't know about the un scandal.

since it has been such a useful tool in helping people see the truth about the lying duplicity of the watchtower, how can we get this message out to more in the organization?

We could make copies of the page straight from the UN website with the UN address clearly seen on the top an at the bottom of the page, and either send it out in mass mailings to every family we know in the area in which we live. Nothing but the page..no note, no return address, so they won't immediatly identify it as "apostate", and throw it away. If I was JW and recieved something like this in the mail, I would definately look at it and as shocked as it would make me, I would most likely try to pull it up on my computer to see if it was for real.

I just stumped our PO!!!

i have never seen this guy stumped on a bible topic or point before, but history was made today!!!

he and a soon-to-be elder were doing a shepherding call on my wife and i because we've missed weeks worth of meetings and had no service time for dec. he went through the usual lectures about how we're cutting off jehovah by missing meetings (because we all know god won't lift a finger for those who don't go to meetings, right?

) he gave some good illustrations- the guy really is a good teacher, it's just what he's teaching that's questionable.

P.S. I am not sure if you have discovered this yet or not, but I used to pride myself on the fact that "our Bible" the King James Bible had replaced God's name over 7,000 (?) times where most Bibles had disgracfully removed it. However, was I ever shocked to find that they added God's name to the Greek scriptures, where originally there was no use of his name!! Only in the few places that actually was quoting a scripture from the Hebrew scriptures, did the Greek scriptures originally contain God's name. Evey other place you see Gods name in the Greek scriptures, it has been added by the Society!!

Now keep in mind how the scripture says that if any one adds to or takes away from God's word, even if it was a Angel, let him be ACCURSED!! Jehovah left his name out of the Greek scriptures except in those few places for a reason. Who is the Society or anyone else to replace God's inspired words!! Anyhow...just thought in case you haven't discovered this yet, you may want to tell your P.O. what you have discovered!! But beware...the outcome may not be good!!!
